Window blinds and shades can be made from many materials or a combination of materials. Fabric, wood, and metal and some of the common materials along with specifically aluminum, vinyl, wood and bamboo. A functional window treatment design and an easy way to control light and privacy, these window coverings are cost effective and easily adapted to the environment, lighting needs, and existing decor. Persian, slat, Venetian, vertical, mini blinds, louvers, honeycombed, pleated, Roman shades, roller shades, and Holland blind are a home décor essential, aiding in the blocking of UV rays, lowering energy costs, and enhancing privacy. Today’s environmentally conscious individual can order window blinds and shades made with faux wood and other faux metal materials.

Roller Shades, also known as Roller Blinds come in many styles, fabrics, materials, and colors. Light filtering roller shades are used for privacy. Blackout shades are used to darken the room. Sunscreening shades allow individuals to see out the window but also to provide sun protection from harmful UV rays. Many are used as a way to reduce energy cost and control the temperatures in a room. Many roller shades are manual but can also be motorized with a remote control.

Honeycomb Shade (Cellular Shades) are pleated fabric shades that are joined together in such a way to form a diamond shaped “cell” in between the pleats that creates a insulated barrier between the window and the room. Cellular shades come in a variety of colors and operating options.

p-shades-blinds-1A Roman Shade stacks up in evenly sized folds of material as the shade is drawn up by pulling a cord or when using an electric motor and a remote control. The Roman Shade comes in a variety of fabrics, colors, and materials. Choosing the right material and color for your home decor may also help reduce UV light rays and reduce energy cost for climate control of a room.

Roman shades can also be made with woven bamboo, rattan, custom fabric or other material. If you are stuck choosing between a flat Roman shade, balloon shade, or an Austrian shade style, Bob Sprain comes to your location with materials and insights. Roman shades are a great addition to any room and when chosen properly can become the accent that brings the room to life.
